The intention of this meditation teacher training program is to bring the skill of “abiding peacefully in the midst of chaos” to the staff of first-responder, social advocacy, & at-risk community organizations so they can bring it to those they serve.

Mindfulness-awareness meditation:

  • Improves sleep
  • Controls pain
  • Decreases blood pressure

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be certified to teach mindfulness-awareness meditation, lead group meditation practice sessions, and work with individual students within appropriate contexts.

Prime candidates for this training include: nonprofit leaders, program managers, and anyone interfacing with staff or clients in an influential way.

From this training, participants will take away a complete understanding of:

  • mindfulness-awareness meditation
  • the stages of meditation
  • how to create a meditation practice and stick to it
  • how to deepen a meditation practice
  • how to use meditation any where at any time
  • how to teach others all of the above in a clear & genuinely helpful way

Details

Group Size: 12-25 people.

Location: Any island in Hawaiʻi as well as anywhere in the United States. (See “Requirements” below.)

Format: In-person • Training can be done over 3 separate 2-day workshops or as a 7-day retreat.

There are 3 training formats available:

1) private to just your organization (requires minimum of 12 people)

2) private to your organization plus any other organization(s) you identify (requires minimum of 12 people)

3) open to being with any organization

Cost: Kit teaches this course for free as a way to give back to community.

The training includes:

  • thorough meditation instruction
  • immersion in meditation practice
  • individual meetings with the teacher

  • contemplative movement exercises.

Requirements: 

Trainees must commit to meditate 30 minutes daily between Levels if training is done over 3 separate 2-day workshops.

Any group requesting this training for their people is asked to provide an appropriate quiet space, chairs for the teacher and participants, and lunch & mid-afternoon tea snack for each of the full days of training. Kit is based on Oʻahu. If your group is on a neighbor island or the continent, please be prepared to arrange and cover any cost of Kit’s round-trip airfare from Oʻahu, ground transportation, and sleeping accommodations.
